Questions people actually ask
If yours is not here, write to us. A person answers within one business day.
+Is a fax legally valid proof of filing?
A transmission record proves the receiving machine acknowledged your pages at a specific time. Whether an agency treats that as timely filing depends on their rules — most that accept faxes do, but the record is evidence of transmission, not of acceptance.
+How many pages can I send for $4.99?
Up to 20 pages in one transmission, including a cover page if you add one. A longer document has to go as two transmissions, at $4.99 each.
+What happens to my document afterward?
It is deleted from our storage 24 hours after the transmission completes, automatically. The transmission record — which contains no document content — is kept so you can retrieve it later. See retention.
+Do I need an account?
No. There is no signup, no password and no stored payment method. You give us an email address only so we can send you the status and your record.
+What if the fax does not go through?
You are not charged. Your card is authorized when you press send and charged only once the receiving system confirms; if we cannot complete the transmission after retrying, the authorization is released. You will also get an email explaining what happened and a link to try another number.
+Can I send a photo instead of a PDF?
Yes — photograph the pages and upload them. We convert whatever you give us into the black-and-white page a fax network carries, and show you the result before you pay. That preview is where a shadow or a cut-off edge shows up while it still costs nothing to fix.
+Where do I find the right fax number?
From the organization that asked for the document — the letter, the form instructions, or their website. We do not look numbers up, because a wrong number we supplied would still produce a confirmed transmission to the wrong office.
+Can I receive faxes?
No. This service sends one fax to one US number and nothing else.
+I lost my record. Can you resend it?
Yes — write to support@faxmydoc.com with the record ID from your confirmation email, or the destination number and roughly when you sent it.
